All I can say is WOW!!!! Your garden is beautiful!!!! Mine is very basic right now. I do have a small pond with a small waterfall I made and cheap goldfish in it. Earlier this week the waterfall was barely movoving water so I had to do some repairs, needless to say they hose came off of the pump and I was showered with spraying pond water. :( I get a good laugh out of it now but at the time I wasn't laughing. here is a page that I made a few years ago. hometown.aol.com/becky2259/myhomepage/index.html I would really like to spend more time on my garden picturer.....maybe in the fall if I can play with them more. this link has another link too besides the one I just added. I should take pictures of my wild flower garden...it is amazing. It has so many different flowers and one week it looks different than the next. Right now the daisies are blooming like crazy. I have never had a pond or any water yet it is something I have always wanted to have. I have seen the pond kits but I am not sure where to put it. I do not like the idea of having something else to add more upkeep to the yard. Last year I built the stone landscaping wall and that was really a projected I regretted getting into although I love how it turned out.....but I had a pile of flagstone in my driveway for almost a year...it is time consuming and tedious work. Then my hubby ran over some of the stones near the driveway and I had to redo part of it....I told him next winter I will get him one of those big reflectors. WOW!!! They are amazing. I took a couple of pictures of the pond and will try and put a very basic web page together this evening so you can see it. The people that I bought the house from put the pond in but it wasn't functional. I rearranged the rocks to make the waterfall. WHen I went out there I noticed I am going to have to disconnect the UV filter (supposedly kills algae) as all I am getting is a trickle down the waterfall. The pond is located under a group of Aspen trees which is great, however they used one of those preformed ponds and now the tree roots have pushed the pond up and I am going to have to get the fish out and drain the pond and redig the hole. :( I am not looking forward to that and may opt to change the preformed out for the cloth. Because of where it is located in the fall you need to cover it otherwise it is filled with leaves and in the spring you need to drain and refill. Once it is up and going it is not bad. I can explain what all you need or answer any questions you have if you wish. Deb |

I just love seeing photos like this. It's as though I'm right there walking thru it all. I bet you attract a lot of birds, butterflies & critters. It reminds me of some of my neighbors gardens when I lived in WI.

I bet the sound from the water fall is very nice. I loved the pictures....makes me want a pond in my yard. When running correctly I can hear the waterfall throughout the backyard and actually in the kitchen at times when there isn't any road traffic.
I updated the link on my web page so it should be correct now. I will go out and fix the waterfall after the yard is mowed and take pics of it at full force. Keeping my fingers crossed I don't get another bath. LOLDeb |

I got the waterfall running correctly. As you can see it is alot more than the trickle that I had yesterday. And the plus I didn't get a bath doing it. YEAH!!! LOLDeb

The pictures look great. I can't wait until we move. I am going to LOVE planting flowers everywhere. I've always wanted a pond with koi. Except I'm not sure what to do wwith them when it gets cold since we live in MN. Do you bring them inside? Or can we not have them at all?

What I have in there is just the "cheap" feeder goldfish. That way if something (cat, squirrel, racoon...) gets them then I don't feel the pinch as much money wise. What I have learned is that fish will grow as big as their environment, the fish that you see last year were the small goldfish in the store. The fish stay in the pond year round. The blue thing you see floating in the pond is actually a water troph (sp) warmer. That has worked the best. As long as there is an opening that is not frozen over the gases are still released and the fish can stay. You stop feeding the fish when it starts cooling off because their metabolism starts slowing way down and they won't eat. On our really cold days (sub zero day and night) the waterfall has frozen but not completely so they are still getting clean/filtered water. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Deb

So the fish can stay in cold water in the middle of winter? You use a warmer all winter? How does the water freeze if there is a warmer??

Yes they can.
If I remember right the warmer temp is automatically set at 34 or 35 degrees just enough to keep the top of the pond from feezing completely over. If the pond freezes there is an area about 2 -3 inches around the warmer that will not freeze along with a small area where the waterfall water is still running. For example there was a week last year where I bet I had 2 inches of ice on top of the pond but where the warmer was (it floats on top of the water) and 2 inches out from it the water wasn't frozen. I have never had the pond come close to freezing completely. Deb

Hi Deb,
Wow those are big fishies...... Hey if you want to make your pictures a little smaller you can go into your paint program which comes with most all computers and open the photo, then go to the top where it says "image" then a drop down menu comes down. select "stretch/skew" if you want your picture to be half the size select 50% for the two top boxes and it will resize your image. Then save the picture under save as to keep it seperate from the larger image. It's easier to view the photos that way. Also I clicked on the hyster home link and it seems to not be working. I think it says comcast.com in front of it. I hope you are enjoying that water fall....it looks like it is part shade and part sun? I wonder what the best location is for a pond...shade or sun or a combination of both? Does your pump run with solar power or electricity? The fish are actually as long as my hand so they have really grown. Thanks for the tip. I will go in and resize the pics. Hmmm I am not sure what is going on with that link, when I preview the link it works correctly. :( I will work on it and see what I can figure out. I know the one on the Home page works without a problem. Since we have 300 days of sunshine (shhh don't tell anyone) here and it is rather intense I think if you atleast have an area that is shaded that would be good. My pump is electrical. The previous owners ran electric out to the fence for the pond and lights. I haven't seen solar pumps but then I haven't looked for them either. One thing to remember the bigger the pump the more water it circulates. Deb

It has something to do with the program Web Site Builder through Comcast. :( I have the URL correctly in the box, when I preview it is fine but when I publish the comcast stuff is added. :( I am on a forum for Comcast to see if someone can figure it out.  I knew using an automated program sounded too easy. LOL Deb
