Do you have a child or children that is either:

My oldest (13 y.o.) was diagnosed at age 3, with being ADHD. To be honest as he has gotten older I see signs of Bi-Polar. I am also B-P so I know all the symptoms and I am certain he is B-P, however the Dr he sees doesnt think so. All b-cuz he is usualy pretty good in school with grades that is. This 9 weeks he has gotten several Ds. The main sign is his mood swings, LAWRD can they be fast change!
Anyway, is there anyone else out there dealing with this and if so how do you cope?  HUGS< Susan

If you feel your son has been misdiagnosed then you should probably consider taking him to get a second opinion. If he indeed has a different issue than his diagnosis indicates you will want to get medical help with that. Hi Susan,
First, I want to say KUDOS to you for finding there was a problem with your son while he was under the age of 6yrs. Next, I want to encourage you not to give up on getting the right diagnosis for your child. I am not sure how much you have researched Bi-polar Disorder, but usually ADD or ADHD accompanies Bp. I am NOT saying that is the case all the time, but it is normal. My son has Bi-polar disorder accompanied with ADHD. He is a very rapid cycler. His moods change faster and more often than you can say your ABC's!! As for your child's education, you may consider homeschooling if you have the option. I am now homeschooling my son , and I find he has much better grades than when he attended traditional school. You may want to go to a website like WebMD, or a youth medical service in your area for more testing on your son. It is a long and grueling process getting your child the proper medical and mental attention that he may need, but it is sooooo worth it in the end. I have been through ALOT of physicians, therapists, and psychiatrists to get the right meds, and diagnosis's for my son. I wish you the best of luck in your search for answers and finding a good Dr. But do not give up hope, they are out there.
