I had a consult with the gyn/oncologist I was referred to for the dysplasia and vaginal cuff tumor this week, and he told me that the biopsies the nurse practioner did on the areas of dysplasia a couple of weeks ago came back normal, though the Pap was still ASCUS.
He said that they may have biospsied the wrong areas, but he feels that we can postpone surgery for a few months, since it takes so long for dysplasia to progress. He doesn't think the vaginal cuff mass is anything signficant. I have an appointment for a follow-up ultrasound and another biopsy in May, which will be almost a year since the original ASCUS Pap was done.
I'm wondering if I should be concerned at the delay. My regular gyn seemed to feel that I needed to have the laser surgery immediately. Remember, the Pap last May was my first in almost four years, so there's no telling how long this has been going on.
Anyway, that's my update. I meant to post it sooner, but it's been a hectic week (first week of a new semster at work.)
Hugs to all,
