Even though I had a LAVH I still can't stand wearing jeans thankfully my boss understands and has told me to stop trying to wear them and just stick with my sweatpants.
But I miss my jeans also :(

How long did it take for all you post-op ladies before you was able to wear jeans without them bothering you?

Everyone who is back in their jeans can send me their sweats!!! Two weeks of running around naked has traumatized my poor family!

Marie,
You crack me up! I asked my parents if it was ok to come to a family dinner in my night gown and house coat and go commando! My brothers were NOT amused! Kristine

I managed to lose some weight right after my hyster, I needed to lose it anyways, the doctor said after surgery is NOT the time to be losing weight. anyways, I was back in my jeans at about 4 weeks post-op. But, do what feels comfortable to you, if it irritates you, dont wear them. I come straight home from work and put on my pajama pants every day, comfort is my number one priority. LOL.

Hi Louise,
I had my surgery TAH 12/9/05- with an incision from belly button down to public hair - and I have only been wearing high waisted skirts. I tried to wear pants once but got alot of pain, not justs pain from the incision, but strong cramping pain. It went away and came back at 3AM and was quite sharp. I don't want to push it. I am back at work - but since I"m a musician on a Broadway show I can't be in extreme pain during the show, so I'm still in skirts. Karen |

Louise,
Thank you so much for asking that question. I have been wondering myself but just haven't asked yet. I'm trying to build up my courage to try the jeans but I'm feeling good and don't want to get myself down emotionally if I can't do it. I guess I've just been avoiding it completely. I am only 6 weeks post-op today so I'm not wishing for much but I, like you, really do miss my jeans. Maybe another week or so I'll get brave enough to try. I also had a LAVH but the belly button inscision slightly bothers me with pressure, that's why I haven't even tried the jeans. In time, we will be back to normal completely. Rhonda

Thanks ladies for all your replies and your help.
Rhonda, I am almost 5 weeks post-op (5 weeks on Thursday) I tried jeans at 3 weeks got through 4 hours (first half day at work) got home and the jeans was off before I could get my coat off (after getting home). I then tried to wear jeans again my first full day back to work (last Wednesday almost 4 weeks post-op) that pair wasn't to bad since they are a little bigger then any of the others I have, but I was ready to get out of them by the time I home. ALthough I work in a office I do go to the warehouse all the time so wearing sweatpants is not a problem for me and my employer. I know some bosses frown on anything remotely like that, just glad mine doesn't. Louise

Suspenders | ||
|
Try suspenders!
I'm one-month post-op with a vertical incision. I wear my jeans with suspenders at home, with the fly left open. Tucking a long soft flannel shirt inside my underwear is comfy and keeps it decent. It's better for me than sweat pants, which bother my belly button swelling. When I go out I wear a long zipped-up vest which covers the zipper. I'm shopping yard sales for jeans and shorts which are much too big in the waist! |
