Posts: 9 (10/14/05 17:49:56) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Hello Ladies, I was wondering if anyone can give me any feedback on Lupron treatment. Has anyone has any succes on using this treatment? I have endometriosis, fybroids & cysts. I had 2 surgeries already and was on Lupron for 6 months. Now I have gone back to my Dr only to find out that the endometriosis is back again. My Dr suggested Lupron again because he said I'm too young (God Bless his heart) to have a 3rd surgery so soon. I have no kids, no pregnancies ever. I have couple of weeks to decide if I can have that if not it will be surgery again. I don't know what to do, I used Lupron & it came back again so I wonder if I do it again I will be bac to square one. I would suggest looking into progesterone supplementation. My second surgery in 2003 was a Laparoscopy in March by April I was getting Lupron because it was back. Now they are talking about me getting another Laparoscopy but they are also talkinga bout taking one ovary out the one that causes me the pain (left side). ---------------------------- What we do for ourselves dies with us. Posts: 10 (11/06/05 18:39:58) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Hi - I have experience w/Lupron, probably more than most people who've taken it, and my TAH is on 11-18-05, same day as your surgery! I was diagnosed w/severe endo back in 1998, took Lupron for 6 months then went off in favor of birth control pills, patches, etc. Back in 2003 my condition left only two options - hysterectomy or try Lupron again. I've taken it for two years straight now (no breaks whatsoever, 3 mo. injections) and have had VERY LITTLE or no adverse side effects. Yes, I've been lucky. The availability of Actonel and Fosomax enabled me to stay on it for so long - they weren't available (or so I was told) in 1998. Even had a DEXA scan this summer - my bones are in good shape. It doesn't seem to be the norm to stay on Lupron for so long, but I had to tell you that it helped me avoid surgery for two years and I really didn't have any problems. My doctor is a straight shooter and very approachable, so I had his support all the way. He's doing my surgery on the 18th with the help of a urologist and an oncologist surgeon (b/c operating on endo can be similar to operating on cancer tissue - I don't have cancer.) That's my experience with Lupron, hope it helps you one way or another. Hang in there, we're all in this together!

I had my surgery on Nov 21st. Everything came out ok I guess. Until 2 weeks later when I went for my follow up my Dr happen to mention that they took my left ovary out. I was in shock! He never told me until then andhe jsut slipped it through the conversation. He aplogized and repeatedly kept saying he was sure he told me. I can honestly say I was depressed all through this months. It's odd, is only ONE ovary and whenever I'm asked about having kids I say: No. But now knowing that there's less of a chance it saddens me. My insurance was canceled at the end of the year so I was not able to get the Lupron. Instead my Dr gave me the DEPO shot as part of treatment for the endometriosis. He did told me that his sister was as bad as I was and after 4 surgeries she finally had to have a hysterctomy and she was in her early 40's. It might be helpful to you to see your surgerical report and it is not a bad idea to ask for a copy to keep for your records. I would also ask for the pathology report of the ovary that was removed. I think it would had been easier if I knew ahead of time that it was going to happen. I think about it once in a while still but now I just try to make a joke about it to make me feel better. It could be worst, a friend just finish her chemo after getting diagnosed with cancer in her ovaries. We just have to count our blessing and work with what we have. thank you again everyone.
